Amphora dating from 540-530 BC, signed by the potter and painter Exekias, it shows Achilles and Ajax playing a game using dice during a lull in the Trojan War. Achilles is on the left and Ajax on the right. They are holding spears and dressed in body shields are nearby as is Ajax's helmet which he has removed. The inscription indicates that Achilles has thrown a four and Ajax a three. Vatican Museu.
