Roses in August — can that be possible? I can answer yes to this question with a few simp'e con- ditions. First, you must plant freely of the ten- der and half tender kinds; give them a sunny spot, plenty of rich dressing, dug in thoroughly, and then plenty of water in July and August. We have no trouble getting roses all summer long. One bit of caution. When you select from the list the sorts you want see that you get plenty of fall bloomers among them, such as 'Hermosa,' 'La France,' ' Perle des Jardins,' Catherine Mermet,' ' Bon Silene '' and Saffrano.' Three simple things make roses plenty : rich soil, a sunny location, and plenty of water. I have several thousand rose bushes to offer you this season, that are of extra large size and the greatest possible vigor, which will flower handsomely the first season planted, and an extra price means an extra plant in every instance. I also have small and medium sizes at low prices. My sales of hardy roses last season were so large that I have made preparations for the same generous demands this season, and have a better stock than ever. PRICES: Large plants, each 50c.; per d z. Smaller plants, very fine and reliable, each 25c.; per 10. Very strong plants, ! per 100. One year old hnshe at per 100. Trade prices on application.
