Kenneth Kassner during a town hall brief while forward deployed Dec. 4, 2016. The Marines have been conducting various missions in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, to include the building of intelligence support packages leading to kinetic airstrikes against Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant targets; upgrading communications capabilities between SPMAGTF and special operating forces in the AOR and conducting theater security cooperation training exercises with partner nations. SPMAGTF-CR-CC is a self-sustaining expeditionary unit, designed to provide a broad range of crisis response capabilities throughout the Central Command area of responsibility, using organic aviation, logistical and ground combat assets, to include embassy reinforcement and tactical recovery of aircraft and personnel.
