A ready means of distinguishing this species fromthe Little Stint, as pointed out by Mr. Hartiug (B. Middle-sex, p. 199), is by the tvhite shaft to the first quill-featheronly, the ivhite outer tail-feathers, and the light-coloured Stint is a miniature Common Sandpiper, whereasthe Little Stint is a miniature Dunlin.
