He and two companions were watch-ing a coal-pit to prevent its burning too fast. One ofthem named Johnson was a noted wrestler and had been imbibing freely and it is supposed thathe and Levi got to wrestling on the bank of a rivernear by, and that Levi was thrown into the streamand drowned. His body was found there the nextmorning in seven or eight feet of water. The mencould (or would) give no account of the matter wheninvestigation was made.
