Spitfire at Duxford Air Museum on Monday April plane is being auctioned at Christie’s in July. A rare Second World War Spitfire which crashed on a beach in Northern France 75 years ago is being auctioned for an estimated £ MILLION after being immaculately restored. The Supermarine Spitfire P9374, which sank into the sand on a beach near Calais after the crash-landing, has been unveiled today (Mon) before it is auctioned at Christie’s in London in July. Flying Officer Ken Wilkinson, 96, who flew Spitfires in the Second World War, was reunited with the plane at The Imperial War Museum in Duxford, Cambridgeshire, where he served.
