The floor, whose general appearance isshown in our illustration, is designed totake the place of the mats of wood or cocoathat are now in general use. It consistssimply of strips of ash or other hard wood,three-quarters of an inch wide and one-halfan inch thick, screwed or nailed rigidly to.
