Selkirk, Victoria Hall, UK. Battle of Flodden . Memorial Garden to the Battle of Flodden, 9th September 1513. The garden was constructed to commemorate the 500th anniversary. The Fletcher Monument symbolises the lone man that returned to Selkirk from the Battle. Selkirk Common Riding, held in June each year encompasses riding of the Burgh Boundaries as well as the casting of the colours, another reminder of days past when Fletcher return from the Battle and cast a Standard (Flag) before collapsing. 9th September sees the Anniversary of the Battle of Flodden.
