Bronze Age monolith marked with Christian symbols at Camas nan Geall, Ardnamurchan, beside C18th burial enclosure of Campbells of Ardslignish.


A prehistoric standing stone at Camas nan Geall, marked with Christian symbols beside an C18th burial enclosure of the Roman Catholic Campbell family of Ardslignish. The stone's W face bears two incised crosses with a dog between them. The burial ground contains headstones dated 1737. St Columba is reputed to have dedicated a burial ground (Cladh Chiarain) here to St Ciaran Mac an t-Saoir, remains of a Neolithic tomb lie to the N of the monolith & abandoned dwellings & later sheep fanks are dotted around.
