Preparations for the execution of two of the Oxford Martyrs, Protestants tried for heresy in 1555 and burnt at the stake in Oxford, England, for their religious beliefs and teachings, during the Marian persecution in England. The two were the Anglican bishops Hugh Latimer (1487-1555), Church of England chaplain to King Edward VI and Nicholas Ridley (1500-1555), English Bishop of London and a supporter of Lady Jane Grey.
