One of several Please cycle considerately cycle route signs on wooden posts along the Saturn Trail at St John s on the Basingstoke Canal Woking Surrey UK In June 2008 Woking Borough Council and Surrey County Council secured 1 82 million from Cycling England to be spent on improving cycling facilities in the area Routes are now being re branded using a Planets Theme based on War of the Worlds by H G Wells who resided in Woking during the late 1800s The main routes will be named after the planets and links off these routes will be named after the planets moons Each route will be named as a trail therefore the Basingstoke Canal will become the Saturn Trail The Saturn trail is the name given to the newly surfaced Basingstoke Canal towpath that links many of the Woking neighbourhoods with the town centre It is also designated as Sustrans National Cycle Route 221
