The lofty roof is covered with glazed seven new ornamental gables, added to it in 1852-55, are copiesof a former S. gable. The upper part of the S. tower was restoredin 1862-64, and the facade in 1901-1902. The W. Riesen-Tor (PI. 14), or Giants Door, used on solemnoccasions only, is adorned with late-Romanesque sculptures.
