Though in more favoredclimes it may be despised by the fastidious as only a crab-apple, yet inhyperborean regions the emigrant will welcome its presence with delightas a passable tree, an abundant crop, and good winter-fruit for both dessertand culinary purposes. The Marengo was described by Mr. Elliott in The Hortxulturist forMay, 1868, p. 136. He calls it quite rich and quite good for thosewho live where Jonathan and Fameuse cannot be grown and kept;
