In his earliestyears, however, the love of books was the masterpjssion of his soul. His hearts desire was tobecome a public school teacher, for which pro-fession he prepared himself by attending ninevarious Normals. He taught sixteen successfulyears in succession. He has abanck)ned teach-ing and accepted a clerical position with theprinting and publishing d© the Amer-icin Piablistitng and in W06 <was appointed. ?of the town ever since. He entered the Herald •Office at the age-of fifteen and after working four years at the trade he took up the profession of ateacher in the public schools, where he spent leight years of successful work in instructing andtraining the young for their duties in life. *JnJan. 27, 1905, he resigned his posttion as teacherand again secured a ptace in the A- M- AurandPrinting House as bookkeeper and bill- iing and shipping clerk. He was elected to theoffice of Justice of the Peace; Feb. 21, 1905, andcommissioned JVsy 1, 1*;05, for a term -of fiveyears. Mr_ Romig was married t-o Annie , daughter of Frederick and Sarah , /Vlarcfe 10. 1901, and is a innsmber andan active and ardent worker in the St, Peters Evan. Lutheran church and has been secretary ?of the Sunday school for a period of eleven is now superintendent of the same, havingbeen elected to that olfjce Jan. 1, 1900. H
