Hamilton, who diedseveral months ago. Mr. Smith has been connected withthe street and electric railway indus-try for nearly fifty years. He joinedthe Omaha traction system in 1872when it consisted of two miles of singletrack and five horse cars. Hobart Porter, vice-president andgeneral manager of the Brooklyn () City , has been elected adirector to succeed Seymour L. Husted,Jr., resigned. Mr. Husted was the old-est member of the company in pointof service of the Brooklyn City board,having been elected on Jan. 8, a letter to Frank Lyman, president,Mr. Husted, who is now in San Remo,Italy, said that his stay in Europemight be a long one and for that reasonhe felt that he should relinquish hisplace as director. Mr. Porter becamegeneral manager of the Brooklyn when the lines of that companywere separated from the Brooklyn RapidTransit system and returned to theirowners on Oct. 19, 1919.
