A sword of the Munich town watch, circa 1600. Strong, tapering blade with a central ridge on both sides. Fullered ricasso with a fleur-de-lys mark on both sides (probably Wolfgang Ständler, cf. "Zeitschrift für Historische Waffenkunde", volume 8, page 202, mark 46). Sturdy, blackened bar hilt. Spirally grooved grip with elaborate winding of brass and iron wire and Turk's heads. Flattened cylindrical pommel with small top nut. Length 101 cm. Typical sword of the Munich town watch. Numerous similar specimen can be seen in the Munich Arsenal and in the Bayerisches,
