Reservoir of Agrio River, Aznalcollar dam, Guadalquivir river Seville province, Spain Embalse del rio Agrio. The Agrio river, also called Crispinejo, is a small river in southern Spain belonging to the Guadalquivir basin that runs entirely through the western territory of the province of Seville. Its name comes from the taste of its waters due to the mining that has occurred in its basin for millennia. It rises in Sierra Morena in a place known as Las Herrerías, in the vicinity of the village of El Peralejo, and runs to the west of the municipality of El Castillo de las Guardas, forming the limit between it and those of El Madroño and Aznalcóllar. It runs through areas of abrupt relief, with steep slopes, often encased in deep and narrow valleys. It receives contributions from several streams (Pantano or Higuerón), and drains into the Guadiamar river, in the municipality of Olivares.
