Brisbane General Cemetery (Toowong) - General plan, 8 July 1909. 17 March 1909 Town of Toowong 185321282 ) A letter had been sent by the council to the secretary, Brisbane General Cemetery, asking the trustees to meet members of the council to discuss the question of dedicating a portion of the cemetery reserve for public recreation. In reply to this the trustees declined to meet the council to discuss the question, gut stated their willingness to lease the land required for a term of 21 years at £50 per annum. Ald. Bergin said he would not for an instant entertain the offer. (Hear, bear.)

Cottell was or opinion that the Government had granted the land to the cemetery trustees for a special purpose, and the Government therefore had no power to compel them lo give the council access. Finally, it was agreed that a committee, consisting of the Mayor, Ald. Siemon, and Bergin, should investigate the matter, and form a deputation to the Premier.
