Resurrection fern grows on a live oak tree, Aug. 9, 2017, in Mobile, Alabama. Resurrection fern is named for its drought tolerance. It can lose up to 97 percent of its moisture, causing it to shrivel and become brown, then spring back to life after it receives water. resurrection fern is an epiphyte, or air plant, attaching itself to other plants.
