Funds for the Ellis street Isle of Safety,which was modeled after the one the MerchantsAssociation constructed at Kearny street butwhich is ten feet longer, were raised by privatesubscription among the merchants and businessmen of the vicinity. Two electroliers were need-ed, which added to the cost, and the money forthese was donated by the Association and theUnited Eailroads.
