BIOSAFETY LEVEL 4 LABORATORY

This Photograph shows a CDC scientist is shown pipetting specimens in the Biosafety Level 4 Influenza Laboratory, Atlanta, GA. A CDC scientist, wearing a protective suit with helmet and face mask, is seated at an air flow hood as she conducts his studies. Using this negatively pressurized, hooded environment any airborne pathogens, or toxic vapors are drawn back into the hooded container, and up into a filtered ventilation system, thereby, avoiding the spread of contaminants through the laboratory.
