It was but two days old,too young to be able to stand upon itswavering legs for more than a few min-utes at a time, and having just finishedfeeding it was resting quietly. It was a hot spring morning far in theinterior of British Guiana. Out overthe savannah swung a pair of large blackhawks in graceful, flight, seeking achance to surprise one of the slenderlizards which skipped about in the thickgrass.
