Thefe Birds are common in the fummer throughout England, andnre fometimes met with in the winter: it frequents feveral northerncountries, fuch as Sweden, Norway, Rufiia, Siberia, Greenland, & is alfo found in Jamaica, in Carolina, and other parts of NorthAmerica. It frequents the borders of ponds and lakes, and makes its neftamong the reeds, grafs, &c. The neft is large, and contains fourteenor fifteen, fome fay twenty eggs, two inches and a quarter in length,of a pale brownifh white, fprinkled with minute chocolate-colouredfpots, in a very regular manner.
