A chalazion or meibomian cyst on the eyelid, a swollen and inflamed sebaceous gland that results in the obstruction of the gland's duct. As a consequence, the gland is converted into a jelly- like mass, causing distortion of the eyelid. Secondary infection may take place, producing a discharge and causing pain. Treatment is with topical antibiotics or surgery to incise & cleanse the gland.
