Soldiers from the Dutch army mobilising near The Vyver in Den Haag (The Hague), just 4 days after the start of the First World War, with two boys in the foreground watching soldiers marching by. The photographer was on holiday in Holland at the outbreak of the First World War and this photograph was taken just 4 days later. The Netherlands remained neutral but in order to prevent invasion they mobilised their army on 1st August 1914, transporting soldiers to the borders of the country.
