This street is nearly opposite the junction of York withOrange and for many years has been called Lower Yorkstreet. Main Street. Straight wharf west by houses of WilliamMacy*, Peleg Coffin-, Zaccheus Macy, Timothy Coffin*,Timothy Gardner*, Joseph Marshall*, Frederick Folger*and Jethro Folger* to west Shearpen and to Cambridge. This was probably an open way before 1700, but thefirst mention in the records is 205 William Macys house stood on the north-west corner ofFederal and is probably the same building shown in theview of this street in the Atheneum Library Kooni. Zaccheus Macys house is still standing at the north-west corner of Main and Gardner streets. It is a leantoafter the style in vogue between 1730 and 1750. Macybought land of Barnabas Gardner in 1748 and the housemay have been built about that time. Joseph Marshalls house stood near the junction of Dukestreet, west of Saratoga. Cambridge was the name applied to the farm north andwest of the north head of Hummock Pond, which wasowned before 1700 by Nathaniel Starbuck. For over halfa century before 1905 it has been owned by Bailey Cor-nish and his descendants. At the Head of Main street on the north side is theresidence of the late George C. Gardner. East of itstands the house known as the Lowell house, and the sec-ond west is the time-looking leanto owned by Hiram Fol-ger and his father. Both were built by Gardners,
