The periphery of the drum revolves in contact with that of asmaller cylinder B, from which a portion is cut off to form a groove or recess sufficiently deep to re-ceive within it each piston as it moves past. The diameter of the small cylinder is just one-third thatof the drum. The axles of both are continued through one or both sides of the case, and the openingsmade tight with stuffing-boxes.
