The armature has 117 slots H x i].i in., con-taining two conductors of three parallel 4-mm. bare wires each. Thecommutator consists of 117 copper segments. The four coils of the magnet field are connected in series. Eachhas 2,450 windings of x wires. The efficiency of the trans-former groups by actual test is from per cent, to per cent. The different portions at the rear of the switchboard are accessiblefrom an aisle along the middle. At the back are four transformerswhich feed the three-phase motors of the generator groups, as arealso the high-tension switches, safety fuses and lightning arrestersof the high-tension circuit. At the front are the switches of thesecondary three-phase and the direct current, the first mentioned forgeneral commercial consumption and the latter for municipal andprivate lighting at St. Claude. Below each switch is the fuse for the circuits. The same roonicontains switches
