Mr. Ratsheskyhas charge of large estates, and occupies many positionsof trust in the financial world, being treasurer in no lessthan ten institutions, and president and director in asmany more. In the political field he has been singu-larly successful, his career having begun in 18S9, whenhe was elected to the Boston Common Council fromWard 18, and served in that body for three successiveterms. In 1892 he was the Republican leader in the. ABRAHAM C. RATSHESKY Council, and made a most creditable record as an ableand honest legislator, being always in the front rank ofthe best speakers on all important questions. He hasserved on everv one of the important committees ofthe City Government. He was elected to the Republi-can State Committee for 1891 and 1892, and was unan-imously chosen secretary of the committee for 1892, thechoice being regarded as a most fortunate one. He wasre-elected to the committee for 1893. In 1891 he was a delegate to theNational RepublicanConvention of Re-publican LeagueClubs, held in Cin-cinnati, and in 1892was a delegate to theNational RepublicanConvention in Min-neapolis, being sec-retary of the Massa-chusetts delegation,and one of PresidentHarrisons warmestsupporters. In 1892he was unanimouslynominated for sena-tor by the Republi-can party in theSeventh Suffolk Dis
