Hvitserkur rock, Vatnsnes, North Iceland
Hvitserkur is a 15 metre high rock at Húnafjörður, near Sigríðarstaðavatn (Sigridarstadavatn) lake. The location is on the Vatnsnes peninsula, near the Greenland Sea. The name means "white shirt", after the bird droppings which cover the rock. Erosion would probably have destroyed the rock, if it were not for concrete foundations which have been added to protect the rock.
