GARDNER, in Charge of Division THE Division of Paint Technology is under thedirection of Mr. Henry A. Gardner, Assistant Direc-tor of the Institute, who is well known as a writer andauthority on paint problems. Mr. Gardner has acted asDirector of the Scientific Section of the Paint Manufac-turers Association of the U. S., and has been for manyyears in charge of the experimental work that has beencarried on by this Association. This work, which nowforms one of the chief activities of this Division, is being. Corner of Paint Testing Laboratory continued under Mr. Gardners supervision in the speciallydesigned and thoroughly equipped paint laboratories ofthe Institute, where every facility is afforded for its prose-cution in a thoroughly practical as well as scientific extensive exposure tests in different sections of thiscountry, which were designed to determine the comparativemerits of protective coatings and paint products for variousstructural materials, are being continued and Inspected 13 from time to time in order that reports and bulletins maybe issued and information distributed. Additional system-atic exposure tests have recently been undertaken by thisDivision on the Institute grounds at Washington, in con-junction with important laboratory researches to determinethe physical and chemical properties of oils and oil mix-tures.
