The filter is shown hanging from a beam, with the apex (1) tied up. 2,2 = sleeves let into the sides, containing 3 3= metal perforated cylindrical boxes of granulated charcoal, and 4, 4 = sponges. One of the sleeves is shown tied up. Both sleeves are slipped on over an inset, containing the charcoal box,so that both box and sponge are easily removed for cleansing. The precipitating powders are mixed with the water in the body ofthe filter. Both body and sleeves are made of waterproof canvas.
