In a ceremony Monday, US Ambassador Antonio Garza presented the condors to Mexico Ciry Mayor Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon. The Chapultepec Zoo joins Fish and Wildlife Service's California Condor recovery program, marking the first time that condors have lived in a Mexican zoo. Approximately 138 condors are flying free in the skies above parts of California, Arizona and in Baja California, Mexico. There are more than 148 condors at the San Diego Zoo’s Wild Animal Park, and its conservation partners the Los Angeles Zoo, the Peregrine Fund and Oregon Zoo.
