The word WROJTE (made) survives from the formula: X made this cross for Y; pray for his soul. A burial was found in the outer part of St Ninian's Cave in 1884, possibly a hermit retired from the Whithorn community. The museum has been refurbished since this photograph was taken in May 1991.
