In order to provide material for making extra ' sogis ' (a sort of pliable panniers), I went out the next day to endeavour to procure some skins. However, I managed to get what I wanted. A very short way from camp I shot a single oryx bull, which proved to be the finest specimen I had ever bagged. The horns measure 36 inches and 36^ inches, which for this species of oryx is very good, especially in a male.
