When his name was prominently mentioned asthe probable candidate for Governor of New YorkState, and immediately after his nomination forthat office, there commenced a steady inflow ofpolitical pilgrims to Sagamore Hill, through thevillage of Oyster Bay and by water craft. OysterBay was then considered as being on the map,and experienced an ever-increasing boom up to thetime Mr. Roosevelt ended his career in the WhiteHouse.
