Clark resigned as Secretary of State, and was ap-pointed Attorney-General, A. W. De Berry succeeding him inthe former position. The legislature proceeded to reform the laws in force, stillfurther correcting the wrongs of which the people had com-plained. By far the most important was the act of the twelfthlegislature, granting a bonus to the International RailroadCompany of $10,000 per mile
