The following is an extract from Report of GeneralKeyes, the corps commander: * * * At a little past twooclock I ordered Neills Twenty-third and Rippeys Sixty-first Pennsylvania Regiments to move to the support ofCaseys right. Neill attacked the enemy twice with greatgallantry. In the first attackthe enemy were driven back ;in the second attack, andunder the immediate com-mand of General Couch,these two regiments assaileda vastly superior force of theenemy and fought with ex-traordinary bravery, thoughcompelled at last to retire,they brought in thirty-fiveprisoners. Both regimentswere badly cut up.
