Monument to Peace commemorating the end of the 1975-1990 civil war Yarze, Beirut, Lebanon.

A work by French artist Arman Fernandez (1928-2005) intended to transform objects of death and destruction and turn them into symbols signifying peace and a hope for the future. In the words of the artist " What embedding objects in something else does is to change the time of the object as you might find an organic fossil in a rock formation."
