Obelisk and the City Hall. Arles. Bouches du Rhône Department. Provence. France

Republic Square built at south of old Roman Forum. The obelisk was installed originally at the Roman Circus, found in 14th century and moved to this square in 17th century. Behind the obelisk there is the City Hall, finished in 1676 and built over the old Communal House (the clock tower is the only one remaining of the previous building), declared as Historic Monument in 1920. At right, the former Archbishopric Palace (17th-18th century, declared as Historic Monument in 1922). Arles (Roman and Romanesque monuments added to the Unesco's World Heritage List in 1981).
