At the entrance to the same village, on the right, stands a castle, severelydamaged, which, early in September, 1914, served as headquarters to GeneralFoch (photo above). A little farther is the church, almost entirely destroyed. At the church, turn to the right and follow the main street, which is linedwith houses in ruins. On leaving Merfy, cross the railway (\.
