CLOSELY allied to the Diptera, though even thetraces of wings seem completely lost, are theAphaniptera, or fleas, a large and important divisionof parasites, and, so far as I know, except for variousarticles in magazines, undescribed. A number ofspecies are described and figured in Science-Gossipfor 1871, p. 100. I do not intend entering upon anydescription of the Aphaniptera, but would merelypoint out that there is much scope for research in thisbranch of entomology, as the various writers who.
