Choristers at Ely Cathedral in Cambridgeshire practised for their annual pancake race this morning (Mon). The 10 boys and girls wore their red and white cassocks as they flipped pancakes outside the 12th century Cathedral. The youngsters laughed and giggled as they rehearsed for tomorrow’s traditional event and tried to improve their pancake tossing skills. Each year around 20 choristers race down the cathedral’s nave after Evensong. It is the third longest nave in the UK, measuring 75 metres. “Choristers have taken part in a pancake race at the cathedral for as long as anyone can remember,” said Lesley Ann Thompson, a spokeswoman for Ely Cathedral.
