Located on Riddarrholmen Island, Riddarholm Church is one of the oldest buildings in Sweden; parts of it date back to the 13th Century. From the 17th century, it became the burial place of all Swedish monarchs. Its most prominent architectural feature is its spectacular, perforated cast iron spire. This replaced the original spire after it was struck by lightning and destroyed in 1835.
