Pizarro refused to go home and exhorted his men on island of Gallo to continue with him. Only 13 did.

Francisco Pizarro (c. 1476-1541) was a Spanish conquistador and the conqueror of Peru. Hearing of the wealth of the Inda, Pizarro formed a partnership with Almagro and Fernando du Luque. They encountered fierce opposition from the natives and Almagro and Luque went to Panama for reinforcements, but they were denied and two ships were sent to bring the men home. Pizarro refused and drew line in sand - he was now on island of Gallo. In the late 1800s illustration Pizarro is shown exhorting his men to stay with him on Gallo. Only 13 did.
