Skull Rock.—Noted as the place where Alexander Henry was secreted by theChippewa Chief, Wawatam, after the horrid massacre of the British garrison at OldMackinaw. Scotts Gave.—This cave is underneath one of the huge rocks peculiar to Macki-nac. While inside this rock-roofed cavern, a peculiar sensation takes possession ofyou, and you are reminded of the scene described in the sixth chapter of Revelation, where the kings of the earth and the great men hide themselves in the dens and in therocks of the mountains, and say to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us and hide usfrom the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: forthe great day of his wrath is come: and who shall be able to stand? In the vicinity ofthis cave are yet standing a few patriarchs of the forest, remnants of the heavy growthof timber which at an early day covered the island. Earlys Farm and the Devils Kitchen are also points of interest, and thetourist should not fail to visit them.
