The plantings are usually made during the first week inApril in rows 14 inches apart and the plants thinned to approxi-mately 12 to 14 inches in the row. In 1918 all the varieties grown the previous year were ratoonedand the results compared with the usual spring plantings. * The investigational work with cotton in 1919 was carried on cooperatively with theOffice of Crop Acclimatization, Bureau of Plant Industry.
