Barker Reservoir, also known as Barker Meadow Reservoir provides water for the city of Boulder. provides water for hydroelectric power generating. Construction of the dam began in 1908. Teacher, civic leader, businesswoman Hannah Connell Barker owned the land upon which the reservoir now exists, Though she did not want to sell the land, it was acquired through a legal process like eminent domain. The city of Boulder purchased the reservoir and dam in 2001.
