As a symbol of the Christian faith in the city of Saltillo, the church of Santo Cristo del Ojo de Agua is located on the top of the hill where the spring emerges which shows the name of the city. This architectural gem houses a crucified Christ known as the Santo Cristo del Ojo de Agua many parishioners attributed to the presence of the spring, which seems to spring from its base. The temple began to be built around 1917 and the Santo Cristo del Ojo de Agua came to town in 1927 for management of the third bishop of Saltillo, Jesus Maria Echavarria and Aguirre. Since 1840 the second Sunday in September we celebrate the "Feast of the Ojo de Agua". Devout people come to adore the Christ and tourists visit the place to admire its architecture and historical value that retains many aspects of colonial settlements. Religious celebration becomes a warm popular festival where locals and have fun on the rides, celebrated with the famous dance of the dancers and participate in songs, dances and celebrations surrounding this unique celebration.
