A 19th century illustration of a baldachin, baldaquin or baldachino, usually a suspended ceremonial tent-like cloth canopy or sometime a solid permanent architectural structure known more correctly as a ciborium which is used to cover an individual or individuals and often containing seats or a throne. It is used in religious buildings and at political gatherings. This one was drawn at at St Andrew's, Milan, Italy.
